National Poetry Month: Margaret Atwood's Moment

If only we could finally really get this "moment"...

It Was Always The Other Way Around

I used to think I could talk to God
but it was always the other way around.
I used to think I knew better than my brother
but it was always the other way around.
I used to think I was a victim
but it was always the other way around.

I used to think always was an accurate word
It never was anymore than never.
I used to think I was afraid of everything
What if it was always the other way around?
I used to think I could write poetry
but it was more often the other way around—
until I
 stopped thinking
I thinking I
until      stopped.
